POSITION SCOPE:

Giyak Mishkawzid Shkagmikwe Inc. (GMS) is the recently formed economic development corporation for Atikameksheng Anishnawbek. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and organized Finance Clerk to join our growing team. In this position, you will play a key role by assisting the Director of Finance & Administration in the daily financial operations of the corporation. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of basic accounting principles, possess strong analytical skills and will work in accordance with GMS policies and procedures.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education
  • A diploma in Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce or similar
  • 3-5 years of work experience as a Finance Clerk or similar role
Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software and MS office applications
  • Excellent data entry skills with an eye for detail
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of Atikameksheng Anishnawbek traditions and culture is considered an asset
  • Payroll designation (PCP) is considered an asset

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process accounts payable, accounts receivable and purchase order transactions
  • Process bi-weekly payroll
  • Process monthly remittances (payroll, pension and benefits, etc.)
  • General Ledger and subledger account reconciliations
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports
  • Assist in the preparation of documents for the annual audit
  • Maintain a positive relationship with GMS staff, management, Board of Directors and partners
  • Maintain and update accounting records and files
  • Attend staff meetings
  • Provide support with projects and tasks as required

WORK SITE LOCATION:

The Communications & Project Coordinator’s primary work site location shall be within the GMS satellite office at 40 Larch Street, Suite 301. All equipment required for the position is located within the building and is easily accessible by the Project & Communications Coordinator.

Travel is required for the position to attend meetings, conferences, and the work sites.
